About the Author
Howard S. Friedman is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Riverside, where he studies personality and health. Devoted to teaching, Professor Friedman has received UCR’s Distinguished Teaching Award; the Outstanding Teacher award from the Western Psychological Association (WPA); and most recently, the Elizabeth Hurlock Beckman Award, for “inspiring students to make a difference in the community.” He was honored with the 2007—2008 James McKeen Cattell Fellow Award from the Association for Psychological Science (APS), which recognizes a lifetime of outstanding contributions to the area of applied psychological research. Dr. Friedman is an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research, and he is Editor-in-Chief of the Encyclopedia of Mental Health. An honors graduate of Yale University, he received his Ph.D. from Harvard University.

Miriam W. Schustack is Professor and Chair of Psychology at California State University in San Marcos (near San Diego), where she currently specializes in individual differences and the use of computers in learning. She has served as a Fellow of the American Council on Education, as Academic Senate Chair, and as Acting Dean. Dr. Schustack was involved in the development and leadership of CSUSM’s Honors Program, and also in the establishment and promotion of Service Learning. An honors and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Princeton University, Dr. Schustack received her master’s from Yale and her Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University. She previously taught at Harvard University.

About the Author
Lori E. Seward is an Instructor in the Decisions Sciences Department in the College of Business at The University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Industrial Engineering at Virginia Tech. After several years working as a reliability and quality engineer in the paper and automotive industries, she earned her PhD from Virginia Tech.

David P. Doane is Professor of Quantitative Methods in Oakland University's Department of Decision and Information Sciences. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and economics at the University of Kansas and his PhD from Purdue University's Krannert Graduate School.

Excellent Statistics Book

I have made it to Chapter 5 this has been a great statistics book. There are a lot of graphics to explain concepts and great examples that help when solving practice problems. There also great examples of how these concepts apply to the real world.I would recommend this book to students who are taking statistics classes!

My Prof really likes this book and has used previous editions too. My opinion - so far so good. In my limited review of the book the examples are good and the language is not technical. This course/book is part of my graduate studies in biology. The book is primarily business focused but with a profs help it is totally applicable to scientific data evaluation. Otherwise, it is approaching week 4 of 12 in my class and we haven't really relied on the book. My only real comment is to check with your campus bookstore/professor and see if it is supposed to come with a student version of Minitab (the software associated with the text). My online order did not come with Minitab, which I need for my stats course.

Great book on a Tiger form, the applications, and the foundation training that makes this art so powerful.

This book blew me away. I have studied this form for many years and now that I have this study aid, I've realized that there is more to learn. The pictures of the Tiger form, the applications, and the basic exercises and stretches speak a thousand words. Great job on the author. I'm glad I purchased this book. It's a great reminder why I practiced martial arts in the first place.

Gary Mah’s book, Hark Fu Kune Black Tiger Fist, seems at first glance to be a specialized work about a specific system of traditional Chinese kung fu. Indeed, he is a longtime student and disciple of Grandmaster Tak Wah Eng, and the centerpiece of the book is a step-by-step guide to the Black Tiger Fist form created by Sifu Tak Wah to showcase the most powerful basic movements and common dynamics of the related Fu Jow Pai and Hung Gar systems. However, this book is very different from the many wordy publications of recent years that describe the history and intricacies of traditional Chinese martial arts styles. Instead, this reminds me of some of the classics published by the Ohara or Tuttle companies in their glory days (such as “How to Develop Chi Power” by William Cheung, and others), in that it’s short on verbose history and theories, and rich with practical information. The first part of the book describes basic stances, drills, and stretches based on the original Fu Jow Pai curriculum, here described and illustrated very clearly and carefully. These are laid out in such as a way as to be an excellent reference for training in basics by a practitioner of ANY Shaolin based kung fu system or classic karate style. The second section is about the form, as mentioned. The third is an excellent breakdown of applications from the form. But the last section on Fundamental Training Exercises truly makes this book invaluable. These 38 straightforward exercises, mostly needing no equipment, carefully selected on the basis of Gary’s knowledge of exercise physiology, comprise a complete foundational conditioning program that builds core strength and helps prevent or alleviate many potential injuries or deviations common to any physically active person. The book is illustrated by many professional photographs clearly depicting each step of each exercise. I cannot recommend this book highly enough, not only to all martial artists, kickboxers, etc., but to anyone looking for a scientifically selected core conditioning supporting any of these pursuits.

Great Book

I am teaching a seminary class using this book as a textbook. I highly recommend it for the serious student of the Bible. Dr Wood does a fantastic job exposing where prophets came from and why they were used, and when God used each.

This book is an excellent resource if you are a teacher. Can get a little confusing with the different references of what others believe so you definitely need the Holy Spirit and be well versed in the word for yourself..

About the Author
J. Michael Geringer is a professor of strategy and international management at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo. He earned a BS in business at Indiana University and MBA and PhD degrees at the University of Washington. He has authored or edited 14 books and monographs, over 110 published papers, and over 35 case studies; he serves on the editorial boards of several leading international academic journals; he served as the Saastamoinen Foundation Chair at the Helsinki School of Economics in Finland; he was the founding chair of the Strategic alliances Committee of the Licensing Executives Society; he served as the chair of both the International Business and the Strategy and Policy divisions of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada; and he is past chairperson of the Academy of Management’s International Management division. His research has appeared in the Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Management, Columbia Journal of World Business, Management International Review, Journal of Management Studies, Human Resource Management Journal, Long Range Planning, Organisation Studies, and Journal of Applied Psychology, among others. He has received 11 “best paper” awards for his research, including the Decade Award for most influential article from the Journal of International Business Studies. His teaching performance has earned numerous awards in the U.S., Canada, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Europe, including the University Distinguished Teacher Award. He was the first recipient of the International Educator Award from Cal Poly, and he endowed a scholarship for students to work and study internationally. He has been active in a range of charitable and service activities, including spearheading the adoption of a school in Soweto, South Africa, and fund-raising for public radio. In addition to his working teaching with universities around the world, Geringer is active in consulting and executive development for multinational corporations and executives from six continents. His clients have included Nokia; Lucent; Eastman Kodak; Sonera; Northern Telecom; Rautaruukki; Eastman Chemical; UPM Kymmene; Industry, Science & Technology Canada; Jiangsu Telecom Industrial; California Highway Patrol; Economic Council of Canada; Perlos; YIT; California Department of Transportation; and Okobank, among others. For relaxation, he enjoys daily Stairmaster workouts, along with hiking, camping, gardening, cooking spicy vegetarian foods, and music.

Michael S. Minor is professor of marketing and international business at the University of Texas, Pan American. He was educated at the University of North Carolina, American University, and Cornell and holds a PhD from Vanderbilt University. His research focuses on comparative consumer behavior, international marketing strategy, political risk, and the consumption of high-technology experiential products. He has published in the Journal of International Business Studies, the Journal of Consumer Marketing, International Studies of Management and Organization, the Journal of Services Marketing, International Business Review, Journal of Interactive Advertising, and elsewhere. He has written for business and popular media from PCWeek to Tennessee Business Magazine. He is past chairperson of the Consumer Behavior Special Interest Group, and past vice chair of the Technology and Marketing Special Interest Group of the American Marketing Association, as well as a former member of the Global Marketing SIG’s board of directors. He is active in DOCNET, the association of business doctoral program administrators. He serves on multiple editorial advisory boards and is the coauthor with John C. Mowen of several consumer behavior books. He has won multiple master’s-level teaching awards and was recently the doctoral program professor of the year. His consulting experience includes work for UNCTAD’s Division on Investment, Technology and Enterprise Development and several U.S. and state government agencies. He has reviewed grant proposals for the Research Council of Norway as well as several U.S. agencies. He lived in Asia for a number of years, and speaks Chinese. He relaxes by playing the mandolin and harmonica for the country/classic rock groups RiverRock and Coastlands.

Jeanne M. McNett is a professor of management at Assumption College, in Worcester, Massachusetts. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an MBA at the Cass School of Business, City University, London. She has had expatriate assignments in Germany, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Korea. Her interests include the role of culture in international business and the pedagogy of international management. Her publications include The Blackwell Encyclopedia of Management. Vol. VI: International Management, 2nd ed., Oxford, UK: Blackwell Publishing (2005); and The Blackwell Handbook of Global Management, Oxford, UK: Blackwell Publishing (2004). Her teaching, research and presentations have received many awards, including The Roethlisberger Best Paper of the Year Award from the Journal of Management Education and the Alpha Phi Alpha Teacher of the Year Award. Her articles have been included in journals and collections focused on teaching in the area of international business. She is an avid master rower and enjoys running, reading, and gardening.

Wonderful text for a International Business Student

International Business by Ball et.al. is a great book. I just took my last exam from WIU. The book is current and has material covering up-to-date content. Many of the companies listed in the book are large American Corporations (Coke,GE, Kraft, MacDoanlds, etc.) just to name a few. If you are going to take a course in International Business requiring this textbook, contact me for a good price on a like new textbook with clean pages and the code the has never been used. [...] for details. I purchased this book new from Amazon for $168.00 last August.

This book does a good job at explaining the do's and don't of international business. If you are seeking to explore the foreign market and/or are a college student majoring in business, this book is a MUST!! I am learning so many things about the trade, business and all the above.

This books is not half-bad. It takes the complexity of all the facets of International Business and rolls it up into an economic study of the global market. This book is not really a tutorial for beginners as it goes directly into the subject. It is well written, rigorous, and not that expensive for people needing to learn the bayesian principles. For total beginners as I was, I would advise reading "Introduction to Bayesian Statistics" by Bolstad before this one. A good book on the topic, with good ideas and recent developments !

Sivia and Skilling give a concise and clear exposition of Bayesian statistical analysis, and pair it with practical, real examples. It has been a great aid to me in doing actual data work. This text gets the balance of theoretical detail and practicality just right. In particular, abandoning the usual emphasis on analytical solutions and instead pairing real examples with numerical solution algorithms when appropriate, is perfect for someone concerned with applying Bayesian statistical analysis to real problems. A great and genuinely useful book!

Very good introduction

This book is a must for those that are introducing themselves in bayesian statistics. It goes very strightforward in to the main topics and the mathematical notation is easy to follow. If you are just beginning I would recommend to read this book before Jaynes' book Probability Theory: The Logic of Science and after William M. Bolstad's Introduction to Bayesian Statistics
