One of the best resources for actual spoken Irish

If you want to learn actual Irish as it is spoken and not the standard (which isn't spoken -anywhere- except by non-natives), this is one of the two best books. This text teaches Irish as spoken in Cois Fharraige, in the Connemara Gaeltacht. It is very thorough and can come off as dry and academic, but is still one of the best resources for actual Irish if the learner is willing to put the time in.

For Munster Irish, the 1961 version of Teach Yourself Irish cannot be beaten. It teaches West Cork Irish from native speakers, and can be found online (it's out of copyright) with audio here: [...]

I had the book without the dvd and found the phonetics hard to follow. The dvd really helps with that. This book...along with several online sites like abair.tcd.ie are making learning to read and speak Irish possible.

Looks good

This is a correction to another review I wrote that mistakenly referred to a different (cassette tape) product. I've skimmed the book and listened to a bit of the DVD and it looks to be a very thorough system. I think it will be very helpful in learning a bit of Irish before a trip to northwestern Ireland next year.

A fun book.

I am not a doctor or related to any health care profession. I am just a simple programmer. But I wanted to get some information on my own physiology and anatomy. As compared to other books on the topic, this book was reasonably priced. It explains everything from chemistry of life to different systems in our bodies to acid base balance to growth and aging in a way that a guy like myself can understand easily. Its not boring like most textbooks.

Something about her fascinated him, and raised his desire, in a way that the husband hunting young ladies of the aristocracy did not. A rather annoying thing for him to discover, given that dallying with the lower classes was not on his agenda, and might even get him disinherited, should his family discover it.

But love and desire have no respect for “how things should be”, and, sometimes, fate intervenes with an unexpected outcome…..

About the Author
Arietta Richmond has been a compulsive reader and writer all her life. Whilst her reading has covered an enormous range of topics, history has always fascinated her, and historical novels been amongst her favourite reading. She has written a wide range of work, from business articles and other non-fiction works (published under a pen name) but fiction has always been a major part of her life. Now, her Regency Historical Romance series is finally being released. The Derbyshire set is comprised of 6 shorter novels. She also has a standalone longer novel shortly to be released, and two longer series of novels in development. She lives in Australia, and when not reading or writing, likes to travel, and to see in person the places where history happened. Wonderful historical romance

Good read if you like fairy tales.

Not a sweet romance.......SPOILERS in the review!!!!!

There are spoilers in this review.............Based on the description of this book I expected to get a traditional cute Regency Romance novel. I really enjoy reading most historical romance novels. This one fell short. Besides the gratuitous sex ( not a prude here but it just didn't fit the whole sweet romantic love angle the way those scenes were written ) it was just ridiculous that Anna would hop back into bed with Richard the same day she caught him having sex with another woman. That is my main issue with the story. It also felt very rushed and like there wasn't enough time for any real character development. For those who like the books where the characters get right to sex and enjoy a short quick read then you will enjoy this book. For those who want more story I would recommend buying something else. For the author other people might find it helpful if you put a warning in about the kind of sex in your book and that its not a slow build. That way the people who will enjoy your work the best are able to better identify it. I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review.

after reading numerous other native american indian books, i think this author weaves a coherent story line.
the info presented resonates with truth inside of me. one has to read to feel either affirmation or disengagement. good book, worth reading, worth buying.

Indian Medicine Power

Only those that are searching for ,or know, what "medicine" means to the Native American will really appreciate this book. Shallow thinkers will be disappointed! It's not about herbal medicine, it is much more than that. Those that are wise enough to have an interest in deep thinking will enjoy and learn from it. Having made several trips to Bear Butte, near Sturgis, South Dakota, several trips to the Pine Ridge area and other spiritial parts of the desert Southwest, this book gave me much more insight into what I had encountered. I consider this to be an excellent book. Most Anglos' (of which a part of me belongs) will never become as wise as the "pagans" they tried so hard to totally destroy. Just one person's thoughts and we all have our own. Read, study, encounter, travel, and learn, then decide. God dwells in the desert and the mountains much more than he seems to in the rigidly structured churches of many eastern states. May God richly bless, by opening their eyes a little wider to knowledge, all those that read this book. Yes, I believe in the "Great Spirit" (God, Creator of all things and am not ashamed to say so). Jesus said; Unless you are willing to acknowledge me before men, I will not acknowledge you before my Father". What a loss that would be.
