This is a great reference guide if you are serious about SAFe and want to become certified as an SAFe Program Consultant 4.0 (SPC) or other new certifications that are offered by the Scaled Agile Academy. SAFe 4.0 introduces new levels into the methodology for scaling agile methods across large enterprises and programs. I was an SPC3 and recently took the SPC4 exam after watching the Scaled Agile Academy videos for upgrading to SPC4 and reading through this book. The exam is closed book and it is very hard (120 questions in 120 minutes) so there is no time to look in the book for answers. If you read the articles along with the training video's it should reinforce the material and prepare you for the exam. For SPC3's, definitely spend time studying the Program, Value Stream and Portfolio levels which are in sections 4-7 of the book and where most of the modifications to SAFe 3.0 have been made.

The SAFe 4.0 Reference Guide is perfect for those adult learners who prefer the ability to navigate concepts using a physical book instead of an online knowledgebase. It allows for writing in the margins, putting dog ears or post-its on specific pages to come back to for future reference, or just for those times when you may not have access to the Internet. It is an absolute must for anyone who is serious about mastering the principles and practices of SAFe!

As a SPC4, I find this book helpful. I can quickly turn to a topic for more research instead of navigating the Scaled Agile website. More supplemental data would have been helpful.
